I've spoken to a number of solicitors recently about the Co-op's practices in this area of law. It turns out that the SRA (Solicitors Regulatory Authority) is looking into the matter! Great to see some progress!

Unfortunately deceased estates are big business for the legal fraternity. The legal associations that represent lawyers are very powerful and have resisted the calls for change by the general community. Our governments are run by legal proffessionals and theirfore there are no standards in place to make the industry accountable. I have written a book called Lawyers or Grave Robbers? see www.lawyersorgraverobbers that sugests mechanisms that could be put in place to make the legal professionals accountable.
